Powerful Cannabis Extractions

“Concentrates” are made by any plant extraction method that concentrates the plant’s chemical compounds. The chemical compounds, or cannabinoids, concentrated in the extraction process include the notorious high-inducing cannabinoid THC. While flower potency generally ranges from 10-25% THC, concentrates commonly range from 40-80% THC.

Concentrates are growing in popularity among connoisseurs who are looking to increase their high and savor the terpenes (flavor profile) inherent to the plant. For medicinal users, CBD rich concentrates are becoming a popular choice.

Cannabis concentrates are extracted through processes that involve either the use of a chemical solvent like butane or CO2, or a non-solvent process like ice water, tumbling, heat, or pressure. The differing extraction methods create a variety of concentrate products that vary in consistency and appearance; scroll down to learn about popular concentrate products.

Concentrates are most commonly consumed by dabbing or vaporizing. Dabbing involves the use of a customizable dab rig and a butane torch for heating an element (nail) to evaporate the concentrate for inhalation. Vaporizers use convective heat to heat a controlled chamber to temperatures that vaporize the concentrate without direct heat being applied to the concentrate. Handheld vaporizers offer discreet and portable convective heating methods for most concentrates. Concentrates can also be used as a “bowl-topper,” but most concentrate consistencies will not combust properly this way.

To preserve freshness and consistency, it is best to store concentrates in a cool, dark place. Silicone containers are a popular storage container, and they can be purchased at The Greenery.

POPULAR CANNABIS CONCENTRATES PRODUCTS

Kief: The powder-like substance created by shaking or tumbling the flower over a fine screen to break off the trichomes (the cannabinoid crystals on the plant). Also known as dry sift, this is a classic method.

Kief Brick: A unit of Kief, the unprocessed powder-like concentration of the plant’s trichomes—compressed to form a solid brick. It is still considered an unprocessed extract, but it makes handling the fine, powdery Kief convenient.

Moroccan Hash: Made by heating or “browning” Kief to decarboxylate cannabis, which is the process of using heat to chemically activate the psychoactive THC cannabinoids in the plant. Heating Kief is a traditional favorite for maximizing THC potency and creating subtle changes to the plant’s terpene profile.

Bubble Hash: Also known as Ice Water Hash, created from a process of putting flower into an ice water bath to freeze the trichomes, then manually or mechanically agitating the flower to extract the brittle frozen trichomes. The water with the trichomes is then put through a series of filters to extract the potent hash.

Rosin: Uses heat and extreme pressure to squeeze the cannabinoids out of the plant or dry sift material. The lower the heat the more waxy or oily the concentrate. Higher temperatures create a shatter like concentrate. This is one of the newest and most popular concentrates as it is solvent free and highly potent.

CO2: Considered safer and less harmful than butane, carbon dioxide is placed in a pressurized vessel with flower to extract the cannabinoids. Unlike BHO, CO2 purges itself eliminating the need for a chemical purging process.

Live Resin: A BHO using fresh cut flower that is flash frozen before the extraction process. This method retains more flavor and aroma from the living flower.

Infused Flower: Commonly referred to as Caviar, is a trifecta of potency! A bud of premium flower is coated in sticky cannabis oil and then battered generously in Kief.

Tinctures: Tinctures are liquids meant to be taken sublingually (under the tongue) and then swallowed, and most of them are infused with CO2 oil. The extracted cannabis oil may be combined with proprietary ingredients to create a sublingual cannabis-infused tincture that can also be mixed into food or drink.

BHO Butane Hash Oil: The most common extraction method. Dried flower is placed in a pressurized vessel where butane, propane or some other hydrocarbon is forced through. The oil that is extracted is then placed in a vacuum to purge the residual solvent out of the product. The extracted and purged oil is then finished to create products of varying consistencies such as wax, shatter, crumble, budder, honeycomb and more.

Lebanese Hash: Begins with dry-aged Kief that’s pure and potent. Our proprietary manufacturing process crafts our authentic Lebanese hash that’s just waiting for a flame to release its potency.

HCFSE: High Cannabinoid Full Spectrum Extract is a connoisseur hash oil crafted from a long, slow vacuum purge to create a crystallized form. HCFSE is packed with THCa for a deeply intense dab that is pure and rich in cannabis terpenes.

Rick Simpson Oil: Named for Rick Simpson, an early pioneer of alcohol extraction, “RSO” generally refers to tinctures or hash oil. True Rick Simpson Oil is homemade, so his tinctures are not available in recreational dispensaries, but the name Rick Simpson is commonly used in reference to ethanol-extracted cannabis oil.

CBD Oil: CBD oil can refer to CBD-rich tinctures, or CBD-rich CO2 oil that can be vaporized or ingested orally. Most of these oils contain only a trace amount of THC, so they are not psychoactive, but they have elevated levels of cannabidiol, which is considered by many to be a medicinal compound.
